Purpose : Having FUN /Religious
Time needed (from Bangalore ) : 9 hours for relaxed outing

Things to shop : fresh flowers and fruits at Ramanagar signal, fresh fruits and vegetables to carry home from Nimishamba temple premises , toys and other wooden articles from Channapatna
Traveller's request : Please do not drop any non-biodegradable articles in the river
We planned a trip to Kaveri pushkara at Srirangapatnam with an intention of understanding what is done at the pushkara and having fun.
I started the journey along with my sister by car at 6.30 am . Traffic was less ;enabling a smooth ride , we stopped at Bidadi for breakfast . Bidadi has many small home run outlets that serve hot and very soft idlis and vadas and coffee. After breakfast , we proceeded straight to Nimishamba temple .
Reached Nimishamba around 9.30am. The festivities were showing up here as well . At the river side, lamps and pooja items were being sold . It was a hot sunny day. There were plentiful of priests to assist pilgrims with the religious rights .The river itself did not seem to be full .The crowd though was not too much. It was a Friday , there was queue for darshan. We finished darshan in half hour.
"Do not forget to buy fresh fruits and vegetables at the temple"
We drove next to Srirangapatnam and reached the river . oh! wow! there was quite a gathering. The scene was complete with vendors selling pooja items , priests, police , beggars, pilgrims and curious onlookers . We managed to reach the water , floated a few lit lamps in water and bathed in the river. Near the river there are many temporary changing places erected for this mela.
Our next stop was the Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple , which had a mile long queue . We had to return without darshan as the crowd was too huge and there were no special darshan tickets .
We started back from our journey , stopped at Channapatna to shop for toys and other wooden articles. There are quite some options for food on this highway , we stopped at Shivalli near Ramnagar for lunch and drove back home with pleasant memories .
